Compliance
Supporting standards.
Beside the design code, PlutoHX uses a set of standards for flanges, gaskets, bolted joints, nozzle loads, saddles, materials, and welding.
The standards
Each standard, and what PlutoHX uses it for.
| ASME B16.5 | Pipe flanges, nominal pipe size (NPS) 1/2 to NPS 24: the nozzle flanges |
|---|---|
| ASME B16.47 | Large diameter steel flanges, NPS 26 to NPS 60 |
| ASME B16.20 | Metallic gaskets, such as the gasket of the girth flange example |
| ASME PCC-1 | Bolted flange joint assembly: the assembly bolt stress and the gasket stress |
|---|---|
| ASME B18.2.2 | The heavy hex nuts in the bill of materials of the girth flange example |
| WRC 107, 297, 537 | Welding Research Council (WRC) Bulletins: local stresses at the nozzles from piping loads |
|---|
| Zick | L. P. Zick’s method for horizontal vessels on two saddles |
|---|
| ASME Section II, Part D | Material properties and allowable stresses |
|---|---|
| ASME Section IX | Welding procedures and welder qualification, for example for tube-to-tubesheet welds |
Nozzle flanges by size
Two standards, split at NPS 24.
A nozzle flange up to NPS 24 follows ASME B16.5; from NPS 26 up to NPS 60 it follows ASME B16.47. PlutoHX picks the standard from the nozzle size.
Coming Winter 2026
We would be glad to show you PlutoHX.
PlutoHX launches at the end of this year. A live demo shows how it fits the way your team works.
